OCIA - Becoming Catholic

We are excited that you are thinking about becoming Catholic. There are many places from which people come from, and many reasons people begin to think about this. No matter what your story is, we want to help you respond to this prompting that you feel. Don't be overwhelmed or worried if you have many concerns and questions. That is normal. Trust that God will continue guiding you in your discernment process.

Becoming Catholic is a process. We want to help you. Please speak to the pastor (priest) and setup a meeting to talk about what this process will look like for you.

Normally, parishes offer a series of presentations over the course of some months for those who are exploring the possibility of becoming Catholic. This process is called the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). Not everyone who becomes Catholic will do this process, because sometimes there are special circumstances. Each person should talk to the priest of their local parish and he can help them understand what the process of exploring the Catholic Church will look like for them.

How to get started

Call the parish office or talk with Fr. Eli at 218-546-6559 to register for OCIA.
